How Caibo collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Caibo Inc. (“Caibo”) handles personal information in connection with the Caibo Global service. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

Information we collect

  • Identity information (name, date of birth, government identification) needed for KYC and, for businesses, KYB;
  • Contact information (email, address, phone);
  • Transaction and account information;
  • Device, log, and usage information;
  • Information required to detect and prevent fraud and financial crime.

How we use your information

  • To provide, operate, and secure the Service;
  • To verify your identity and onboard businesses;
  • To process transactions and provide support;
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud and financial crime;
  • To meet our legal, regulatory, and reporting obligations.

Consent and legal basis

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Certain collection and disclosure — for example, for identity verification, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting — is required to provide the Service and to meet our legal obligations.

Disclosure to third parties

We share personal information with service providers who help us operate the Service (such as verification, banking, payment, and infrastructure partners), under contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal information.

Regulatory and legal disclosure

We may disclose personal information to regulators, law enforcement, and other authorities where required or permitted by law, including reporting to FINTRAC and screening against sanctions lists.

Data retention

We retain personal information and transaction records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal requirements. Certain records must be retained for the periods mandated by law, generally five years.

Security safeguards

We protect personal information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your rights

Subject to legal limits, you may request access to and correction of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at compliance@caibo.ca.

Cross-border processing

Some service providers may process personal information outside your province or country. Where this occurs, information remains subject to appropriate contractual and legal protections.
